Leonard was born on Jan. 31, 1949 in Austin, Texas to Leonard William Cain III and Louise Adams (Caldwell) Cain. He passed away at his home on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at the age of 63.

Leonard married Jeanne Elizabeth Painton in Galveston, Texas in 1973. They never could remember their date of marriage but knew they were married for eternity. Leonard practiced medicine in Cortez since 1986. He was also the Hospice Medical Director for his entire working career in Cortez. Leonard was a very unique man and was compassionate toward his patients. He gave them the ultimate care they deserved. His family would like to thank his staff for also serving their beloved patients in the same spirit.

Surviving Leonard are his wife, Jeanne Cain of Dolores; his mother, Louise Cain of Georgetown, Texas; his son, Ian Cain of Dolores; his brothers, Bruce Cain and his partner David Polley of Georgetown, and Russell Cain and wife Sally of Missouri City, Texas; and many close friends who shared love and life with him — you know who you are.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Cain III.
