Gary was at the 97 Cooper grathering, we talked for a while, we played football I was 190lbs and played halfback and Gary was our fullback at 150lbs. We laughted about that.Damn he was tough. Anybody know how he died. he was a great guy Ken Passons
I found out that Gary had lung cancer in the last stages and he came to the reunion knowing that it was his last. Jefferson Coyote #20 has been missed...
I remember Gary and someone else at Jefferson football practice going head to head and Gary's helmet shattered into many pieces and some of the pieces were hanging by the straps. Miss you tough guy.
Gary signed my yearbook and said thanks for helping him make it thru algebra. I was tutoring him and have an interesting story.
one night i was at his house working on algebra and his parents weren't home. He said: Lets go to mcmurry and pick up a couple of girls------i was shocked and honored that he thought i could be successful in picking up a girl. I was young and rather stupid and had little experience with girls.
I thought we might go up ther and "try" to talk to a few girls---but i didn't think we had a chance with college girls---i was only about 17.
we went and sure enough, he worked his charm and we went back to his house with the girls. All i can say is that i'm quite sure the girl i was with was disappointed that she was stuck with me----i didn't really know what to do---i'm sure she was bored.
I hope this story doesn' t insult the family or his memory. Gary was a nice guy and a charmer. Many will miss you.
