Calgon always had a big smile for everyone. He was a fabulous drummer and talented carpenter. His final years were spent mostly on the Texas coast where his passion was fishing. Cal left two wonderful children, Calli and Clay. He spent much of his time with them in his final years. I first met Cal in the 4th grade at Crockett, where he said I once saved him from a bully on the playground. In the 70's and 80's, we had mutual friends living in the Buffalo Gap area. For many years, Cal performed with Slim Chance and the Survivors in the Abilene area. Friends and families often gathered at Coronado's Camp to celebrate and enjoy the band's music. Many hearts were saddened when he died in 2006.
